DataJoe Software Privacy Policy
DataJoe, LLC (“DataJoe,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects the privacy of our clients, partners, and users. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect information in connection with our software applications and services.
1. Scope and Purpose
This Privacy Policy applies to all data handled through DataJoe’s systems, including data collected or managed as part of research campaigns, surveys, and applications licensed to our clients. The purpose of this policy is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and responsible use of client and user information.
2. Data Ownership
(Ref. Contract §§2(g), 2(i))
Proprietary Data—Data collected through survey processes under a client’s brand is exclusively owned by the client.
Shared Data—Publicly available data gathered through DataJoe’s research processes may be co-owned by DataJoe and the client.
DataJoe does not claim ownership of client proprietary data and uses it solely to fulfill contracted obligations.
3. Confidentiality
(Ref. Contract §2(i))
DataJoe will not directly or indirectly use, disclose, or make accessible any client confidential information to unauthorized parties.
Confidential information includes business methods, customer lists, data, trade secrets, and other nonpublic information.
All employees, contractors, and agents are bound by this confidentiality obligation.
4. Data Access and Security
(Ref. Contract §§2(c), 2(h), 8)
Access to DataJoe’s system is restricted to authorized users with unique credentials.
Users are prohibited from sharing usernames or passwords.
The system is accessed through secure, encrypted HTTPS connections.
DataJoe takes commercially and technically reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorized access or interception of data.
Data is hosted securely in controlled cloud environments (such as AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
(Ref. Contract §6(d))
Upon termination of a client relationship, DataJoe discontinues use of client data.
Clients may request certification that data and related copies have been deleted or destroyed.
6. Data Use
(Ref. Contract §§2, 2(a)–(f))
DataJoe uses client data exclusively for purposes related to research, data compilation, and delivery of contracted services.
DataJoe does not sell, license, or repurpose client data for unrelated commercial gain.
7. User Responsibilities
(Ref. Contract §2(h))
Clients and authorized users agree not to upload or transmit materials that are fraudulent, infringing, defamatory, or that violate any person’s privacy rights.
8. Compliance and Oversight
DataJoe’s leadership team oversees all data protection and confidentiality practices. While DataJoe does not maintain a formal data protection officer role, these responsibilities are centralized.
